First things first, spring is on its way and I have really been wanting a nice jean jacket to pair with any outfit. So I set to buy a jean jacket and a jean jacket only as I have been going a bit overboard with the spending. So first stop, the obvious Forever 21. I found an adorable jeans jacket for about $25 in the Heritage section. I grabbed a small and off to the fitting room I went. Putting this coat on was like stuffing a sausage into a straw! I couldn't get the darn thing past my arm s and then I realized it was a jacket from the new Heritage kids line. I was so upset to learn that this jacket was only available in kids sizes and reluctantly put it back. Then the obvious struck, why don't I try it in an XL? I dug through the pile and got the last one. It fits perfectly and I am in love, unfortunately I can not find a picture of it on the website to show you guys and I have lost my digital camera in a mass of papers and work that I have been swamped with. Now Forever 21 is a very hard store to walk into, pick up one thing, and walk out. So of course I had to browse a bit. I showed a lot of restraint passing cute articles of clothing left and right. However I couldn't pass up the awesome deal I am about to share with you! I wanted a nice crisp white tshirt to wear with my new jean jacket and found a section with tshirts in all different sizes and colors. I bought three:

A gorgeous Peach
The white I had been wanting

and a slimming black one.

Link to the shirts: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=top_basics_active&product_id=2067814665&page=1&pgCount=1&size=&sort=np

At only $3.50 each these shirts totaled $10.30. I absolutely love the peach one and have nothing else quite like that color in my wardrobe. I also bought a pair of leopard shorts that I can not find online and are probably the tackiest things ever but they were just one of those "I HAVE to have those" purchase. And this shirt
Finally I made a trip to Old Navy and bought ANOTHER denim jacket, this time an all white one. This is the jacket in "gray" as they are sold out of the white color online because they are on sale for $25 also!

All in all I am super happy with my purchases and I hope you enjoyed as well :)

2009 Favorites

I know I am a HUGE slacker when it comes to posting, and I apologize to everyone! I think with MUFE you are just paying for the brand while with the PF it is the quality that matters. I also have purchased Mac Studio Fix Powder and am absolutely loving it (shade C2 for me) Followed with a dusting of Loreal True Match Powder in Cocoa C8 used as a bronzer
Ive also been using Victoria's Secret's Pro Fx concealer
in place of foundation (i use the medium one, 2nd from left) because of the full coverage it offers. I really like not wearing foundation, I feel like I am letting my skin breathe for once! I just slap on this concealer over my bad areas and then follow with Studio Fix powder and True Match bronzer. I do touch up throughout the day with my Cover Girl Aquasmooth Compact (famazing foundation that everyone should try!) but that's about it. I have also purchased a shampoo and conditioner set that I am so excited to try out tonight. I had been on makeupalley asking the boards and searching reviews for the "best" volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The consensus was... Giovanni Root 66 Max Volume Shampoo and Conditioner Purchased at Walmart for about $7 each, these are completely sulfate free and supposedly provide for amazing volume! I will definitely keep you posted :). Hope everyone has a fantastic Holiday! Let me know your favorite products and new purchases.

Things Loved and Things Lusted (for)

Alright so once again I find myself slacking and neglecting to update. Sorry! I will get better at this eventually (I hope)! Anyhow I thought I would keep track of items I am loving right now/have been for a while. I have decided to do this because upon l0oking back at my old pictures on my camera I found a picture where I really liked what I did with my makeup I just canNOT remember what I had used. I detest trying to think back through the months helplessly trying to remember. So here is to my future self, in case I forget again, and also for anyone who is curious and like to see what others use (a feeling a I am stranger too) :).

For those of you who are more visually stimulated here are some pictures!

Items I have been loving

(MINUS THE LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER!! Sorry I go a little overboard with pictures.. Anyways I think I can confidently say that I will never try a new mascara again. I am COMPLETELY sold on Define-A-Lash, it is super cheap and lengthens like no other. Benefit BadGal is also a good one, I am usually not akin to a blue mascara but I got this one free at Ulta. I did hear that blue brightens the whites of the eye and I am actually liking the affect it gives. I put this on over the black Maybelline so it does not look like I am wearing blue and it does actually brighten my eyes. Then to really make them pop I line just the inner corners with a white eye pencil from Wet N Wild that I picked up for 99cents. I am really liking my eyes at the moment when I use these three products.

If you are looking for a very good coverage, heavy duty concealer Benefit Boi-ing is a godsend! A must have for girls like me with redness or under eye circles, this covers like a dream. I am already on my second tub (it is a quite small amount for the price unfortunately) my shade is 02. I have to admit something now, I have fallen in love with Studio Sculpt. Initially I really disliked if not, hated it. It was not at all what I had expected in the coverage department and the color I was given (NC25) was quite light on me. Now as fall is approaching it works better with my skin, is very moisturizing and I have began applying it with the Sonia Kashuk beauty blender knockoff. This works much better and I can actually get coverage from this foundation, and a really nice flawless finish when used with Boi-ing and topped with my next favorite, Bare Minerals original foundation. I am tempted to try the new Matte version, but for now I am sticking with the award-winning, #1 favored by Americans formulation. This I use as a powder and it leaves me with a nice glowing finish.

CoverGirl Aqua Smooth foundation seriously deserves its own post. I would not know what to do with myself without this foundation. My gosh I cannot believe how amazing this is. You HAVE got to try this. At the price of like $8 you will not be disappointed. This offers amazing coverage, I honestly will not go near MAC Studio Tech again. Some colors can be quite pink toned, so stick with those of Classic Ivory and Buff Beige if you do not want so much pink. I have three of these at the moment. I take one with me in my bag for touch ups throughout the day and it is the only face product I bring, and I feel completely confident with that. Please please please try this if you like the idea of a creamy foundation. I even use the sponge applicator, which I normally don't use with drugstore products but everything about this is perfect!

My two cannot life without body/face products are self tanner and serum. Olay Regenerist serum is my favorite at the moment. It goes on very smooth and just glides into the skin. It gives me a nice refreshed and glowing look. No word on its anti -aging properties however. My favorite self-tanners of all time, and being a pale girl you know I've tried them all, are Vaseline and L'Oreal. L'oreal's spray on sublime bronze is what I use to tan my face and it is the only thing that actually works without causing breakouts or fading away in a matter of hours. And Vaseline I have repurchased multiple times, I think I am on my sixth bottle to be exact. Not only is this very moisturizing but produces a beautiful, believable glow/ tan upon repeated use.

I'm also really loving the Garnier Triple Nutrition line. The products are really well formulated, the conditioner's third ingredient being palm oil, one of the few oils known to penetrate into the hair shaft (see this article if you are interested http://thebeautybrains.com/2006/05/24/is-ojon-restorative-treatment-any-good/)

As if this post wasn't long enough already I would like to include a second category.

Things Lusted For

Studio fix fluid in NC25 and a really nice tacky pair of white sweatpants to curl up in!

A blog post.. really?!

Hey guys! Wow I have not posted in forever! I am so sorry for the absence :(. I just thought I would update you all on a few recent purchases and such. First off I am a HUGE fan of Revlon Colorstay Foundation (my shade is 250 Fresh Beige in the Oily/Combo skin formulation btw)

But lately I have been venturing out for some thing new lately, not that Revlon didn't cut it of course. So here are the three new comers to my stash. We have

MAC Studio Sculpt in NC25 (a tad light on me but winter IS coming)

Nars Oil-free foundation in Barcelona

AND Maybelline Superstay 24HR in Classic Beige

The Maybelline one is very similar to Colorstay in terms of coverage and even color, but for some reason at the end of the day I think I am going to stick with Colorstay.

MAC's Studio Sculpt foundation is a very interesting one. It's a gel as many of you know and is very viscous as opposed to any of the other three mentioned. It is too light for me at the moment and I do not like the way it looks, but perhaps come winter my opinion will change. It is pretty good coverage although I would say that that of Revlon or Maybelline is even better. Again, I'll stick with the Revlon.

Finally Nars Oil-free in Barcelona. I picked this up when I went to Sephora to return the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. That foundation was an epic fail for me :(. I do like NARS' foundation a lot better than the MUFE HD but still am proud to say that Colorstay far outweighs them all. The consistency of Oil-free begins watery and when applied dries very very quickly so a lot of quick application skills are required. It does provide nice coverage also but did not conceal my red spots as well as Revlon, which is my number one expectation for a foundation, must conceal redness!

The bottom line is that Revlon Colorstay is the most amazing foundation ever and is a superb alternative to any high end foundation that you are not looking to pay an arm and a leg for. Please try this stuff out, it is fantastic!

One more thing.. I tried out Lush BIG shampoo after learning that MakeupbyMel (from youtube) AND lollipop26 (also a youtuber I'm sure you know) have used this. Call me crazy but whenever I learn what a gorgeous girl with gorgeous hair uses, I'll have that product in a week tops.

Anyways Lush BIG is definitely an experience. First off the smell is amazing, it's very sweet and delicious and lemon-lime margaritaish. It is composed of salt and feels like the consistency of a body scrub. It was very strange my first time using this and scooping out a handful of, essentially, salt to rub throughout my scalp. This stuff lathers incredibly! It is such a nice shampoo but a bit pricey at $21 a tub. To be honest I haven't noticed my "dull" hair transforming into shiny "traffic-stoppingly" silky hair with huge body, but regardless I do think this is a very nice shampoo and will probably repurchase. I love the idea of using natural products also. Well that's all for now, I hope to blog again soon!

What I'm Currently Using

I have ten minutes to spare, so why not put it to good use? Sorry! My job has been overwhelming and I have been lazy. Nothing new there. Anyways after watching a rerun of Tyra Banks' talk show, appropriately named, The Tyra Show, I was inspired to try out a book mentioned on the show. This book is called Hungry Girl 200 Under 200.
Basically this book is for those of us who are trying to save a few calories here and there by eating meals under 200 calories. I have tried some of the recipes offered by this book and a few have been successful and others a big fat FAIL. But again what can you expect from something under 200 calories? One thing I did discover from this book and have fallen in love with for probably the rest of my life are VitaTops.
Ohhh now I want one! I have about 4 boxes of these in my freezer currently and I am downright in love! These little babies are 100 calories per "top", essentially these are supposed to be just the top of a really tasty muffin because who really eats the bottom half of the muffin? The top is where it's at! Aside from only 100 calories, these treats offer only 1.5g fat, 6g fiber and 3g protein and 15 vitamins and minerals. AND THEY ARE DELICIOUS!! They can be eaten frozen or microwaved. Just a warning in advance, these taste like warm gooey brownies when microwaved for about 30 seconds and are irresistable. They also come in an assortment of flavors, but I have only been able to find the deep chocolate at my drugstore which I am just fine with.
I hope I have inspired some of you to check these out because I have never heard of them before and thought I should spread the word! Happy eating :) Here is a link to the VitaTop site, the brand name is Vitalicious. http://www.vitalicious.com/index.html

L'Oreal Everpure

Now I have never really been one to let myself be bothered by the use of sulfates in my shampoo. I've always stuck with the mentality of, "my hair is dead so what does it matter?" Now I also must admit that I do follow "teen queen" Miley Cyrus on twitter *hangs head in shame* AND after seeing her tweet about her loving L'Oreal Everpure's hair mask I, being the product junkie that I am, HAD to try it. Something about knowing that a celebrity uses it just makes me want a product that much more, especially if it is an inexpensive drugstore product.
So off to walgreens I went, and into my cart went the moisture restorative masque. After trying this I had to tell you guys that sulfates are apparently my worst enemy because my hair has NEVER looked better nor felt softer. I plan on trying the shampoo and conditioner and expect ample results. One last thing, the leave-in conditioner from this line is absolute, utter crap! It smells great, as does the entire pepermint scented line, but it might as well be called glue. DO NOT waste your money on this! I wonder what went wrong? The rest of the line seems AMAZING!

Physician's Formula

At my local drugstore physician's formula was on a 40% off sale! (a grand total of $10.20!! which was originally a $42 one)

I bought the pearls of perfection bronzer in light bronze

Bronze Booster in Light to Medium

The green face pallette to neutralize redness

and tomorrow I am going back for the Mineral wear face powder. Sorry for the lack of activity on this thing.. Anyways I thought I'd let you guys know on something. So awhile back when it was all the rage, I succumbed and bought Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse foundation

I bought it in the lightest shade, "Light 0-Light Ivory" because if I recall Target had sold out of the Light 2 AND Light 3 and Light 1 looked too pink for me. So the embarrassing Light 0 it was, I hate being the lightest shade in foundations :(. Little did I know Light 0 would come in handy later on. It is a good foundation with decent coverage and a cool whipped feeling on application, but one day out of sheer randomness I applied a swipe of this to my lips with my finger. I am a fan of the nude lip trend and Light 0 being the lightest, nudest shade if you will, found something amazing. Voila! Perfectly concealed nude lips.

This is as nude as I wanted to go, I just applied a very thin layer of this as it is quite thick. However with a thicker application one could really get close to "white" nude lips. My natural lip color is a quite pigmented pinky red, as you can see this stuff really covers it and neutralizes it.

Haha uhh still figuring out how to take lip pictures without getting too close.

Here's with a thicker layer of product applied.

As you can see it settles into dry spots/crevices on the lips very easily, so excessively cared for and moisturized lips are must (unfortunately mine are neglected :( ) in wearing this product.

*Sigh* Another Haul

Upon reading a tweet from Sardun1 (Sarah Bella) saying that an American Beauty foundation for $17 from Kohls was comparable to Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation I just HAD to have this.

Observe the American Beauty Perfect Lighting Line Smoothing Foundation.
I purchased this in Fair/ Warm, which is an absolute perfect match to my skin tone. This is, for a drugstore/Kohls product, an excellent foundation that offers a light, illuminating coverage just as the Giorgio Armani promises. It also has an excellent range of shades covering both warm and cool skin tones, as a higher end product would. This product gets an A+!

I also went to Ulta and of course had to pick up somethings. This time it was only two items. I'm getting better, woohoo! First we have the new L'Oreal Volume Collagen mascara. The brush looks incredible and cannot wait to try this out.
The second item purchased was another L'Oreal product. I introduce you to the Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee in Medium Natural Tan
Now I have already discovered my "HG" Self-tanning lotion for the body, the Dove Energy Glow Subtle Self-Tanner in Medium

I intend to use the Gelee on my face in order to achieve a glowing complexion. I've tried nearly every facial self tanner and alas all have failed, except the Bare Bronze facial moisturizer from Victoria's Secret but with the $18 price tag, I have been on the hunt for a new product. I have heard excellent thing about the Gelee especially when used on the face, so I am more than happy to give this a go.

Next order of business, a recap of my trip to TJ Maxx. I must say the prices at this place are incredibly cheap. Among piles of skincare prducts like Clinique and hair care products from the likes of Ken Paves and Nexxus I discovered a few goodies worth writing about. First is another self-tanning facial product, this one also by L'Oreal but actually formulated for the face along with a hint of bronzy color for an immediate glow as well as the long lasting formula with DHA.
I also picked up a 12 oz bottle of Chi Silk Infusion for 15 dollars which in my opinion is a great deal :).
And a conditioning hair masque from the Straight Sexy Hair brand.

Can't wait to try out all my new goodies tonight. Have a great weekend everyone!

A Quick post

I haven't much to blog about today, no new purchases or anything exciting of that sort. I have however discovered something nothing short of amazing. I normally shave with my Gillette razor and Skintimate dry skin moisturizing shave gel, cue picture..
This combo works pretty well but it is nothing spectacular. So a about two weeks ago I ran out of shave gel and HAD to shave my at the time furry legs. I was considering using conditioner as I've heard many a time that using conditioner in lieu of shaving cream works wonders, but alas preferred saving the conditioner for conditioning my hair not removing it. So I grabbed my Olay Quench Body Wash, slathered it on (the minuscule amount of lather this produces is in no way comparable to that of Skintimate's, which I worried about because I have somewhat sensitive skin and need "unbeatable razor protection"), and began to shave. My razor glided as smoothly as it possibly could over my *cringe* hairy legs until there was only silky smooth skin left. I've been using this stuff for about 10 days and have yet to experience any nicks, razor burn, or larger shaving cuts (all of which have been painfully experienced with Skintimate). Needless to say this body wash has really won me over! Not only is it superbly moisturizing and creamy, but doubles as an amazing shaving cream and I personally love the manish smell it has. It reminds me in a bit of Chi Silk Infusion's smell.

Also something I am going to pick up very soon is John Frieda's Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo and Conditioner.

These products claim to lighten blonde hair using the power of chamomile. I subconsciously sort of know these products aren't going to work yet I am still dying to try them! It's to much fun trying out new products :)

Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer/Concealer Swatches

So I have decided to show off swatches of all of my foundations.. Although formulated for dandruff and dry scalp, I have neither, this conditioner works amazing for my long (boob length) damaged blonde hair. My hair is left softer than it's ever been after I use this, softer than any of the masks I have reviewed do! The weird thing is that it doesn't leave my hair soft after I rinse it out in the shower, but once I go to sleep on my damp hair and wake up in the morning my hair is tangle free for once and soooo soft!! I LOVE this stuff! You seriously need to check this out if you need an amazing creamy softening conditioner. Bye bye Tigi S Factor, not even going to bother trying that out after the performance of this conditioner. Definitely going to check out more of Neutrogena's hair products. PS, their sunscreens are also amazing!

Ulta. I never leave empty handed.

So today I went to Ulta. I was just planning on looking around and of course ended up purchasing! Of course I bought a back up of my bare minerals foundation in fairly light, cover girl aquasmooth foundation in classic ivory, cover girl tanfastic bronzer in soleil (which is sadly being discontinued!), physicians formula concealer rx in light (supposed to be very good coverage), and olay quench body lotion. These items are somewhat exciting to me, but there is not much to be said about them. I did however purchase five more things. These five things are the reason for this blogpost! I gave in and purchased two of the three Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powders. The three colors available are Brighten (a pink/white shimmer shade), Sunkiss (a swirly medium bronze shimmer), and Suntan Matte (a medium bronze matte). I bought Sunkiss (left) and Suntan Matte (right).

These are Revlon's attempts at MAC MSFs and I have to say these are quite good. I was very excited to have found these and could NOT wait to swatch them for you guys!

(Suntan Matte) (Sunkiss)

Sunkiss is on the right and Suntan Matte is on the left. Sunkiss is obviously a much darker and more of a reddish coppery shade than Sunkiss. Sunkiss is more bronzey orange and both are quite shimmery. These are very nice and a bit expensive for drugstore, 14 bucks. The next item I purchased was the physicians formula bronze booster self tanning bronzing veil in light to medium

This is a very interesting product. It is supposed to be a facial self tanner (as it contains DHA) but also a bronzer. This is a brush-on product that features a pump on the bottom in order to pump just the right amount of product out as shown:

This comes out very dark on me ( i should have purchased the lightest shade instead of light to medium) and when blended looks a little more natural on me (my face is much darker than my hand) but VERY shimmery. Way to shimmery in fact to wear as an everyday bronzer.

I would wear this if I was planning to go to the beach or the pool and want my face to have a healthy glow and where people would not care if they thought I went crazy in a three year old's glitter stash. Unfortunantly thumbs down on this 12 dollar product. The next product is Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Dry Scalp Active Soothing Conditioner

. I bought this because of its chemical similarity to Tigi's S Factor Smoothing Conditioner
For 20 bucks less here are the ingredients of Neutrogena's conditioner:

Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Amodimethicone, Divinyldimethicone/Dimethicone Copolymer, Panthenol, Stearyl Dihydroxypropyldimonium Oligosaccharides, Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis), Meadowfoam Seed Oil (Limnanthes Alba), Olive Fruit Oil (Olea Europaea), Butylene Glycol, Betaine, Apricot Fruit Extract (Prunus Armeniaca), Blackberry Fruit Extract (Rubus Fruticosus), BHT, C12 13 Pareth 3, C12 13 Pareth 23, PEG 10 Sorbitan Laurate, Peppermint Oil (Mentha Piperita), Menthyl Lactate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance

And Tigi's?

Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Parfum (Fragrance), Stearyl Alcohol, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Bis (C13-15 Alkoxy), Pg Amodimethicone, Quaternium 52, Dimethicone, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Panthenol, Butylparaben, Pg-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate, Propylparaben, Glycerin, Pentaerythrityl Tetracaprylate/Tetracaprate, Ethylparaben, Acetamidopropyl Trimonium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Isobutylparaben, Tetrasodium Edta, Methylparaben, Linalool.

With the exact same first line of ingredients (the most potent in each product have to be listed first and in order, while the lower concentrations can then be listed later in any order a company desires) these products should perform very similarly. I cant wait to try out Neutrogena!

And finally, I purchased Aveeno's Tinted Moisturizer in Fair to Light. This product also has spf30 sunscreen which is great!

The color is really good on me (Im around NC20 in MAC)

And when blended gives pretty nice coverage for a tinted moisturizer.

I am really happy with this product overall and think it is going to be fabulous for hot summer days when I don't want to wear sweaty, heavy foundation.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://pepermint179.blogspot.com/2009/05/ulta-i-never-leave-empty-handed.html' title='Ulta. I really can't offer you an explanation aside from sheer laziness to do so :/. Anyways I am very excited as tonight starts off a sand volleyball league I play in and it is going to be pretty intense which I can NOT wait for! Anyways here are my thoughts on Mask number 3, Neutrogena's attempt at recovering moisture to very dry hair. The triple in the triple moisture mask refers to three different extracts that each supposedly penetrate the three different layers of the hair shaft, the outer, middle and inner cortex. Olive extracts penetrate the inner cortex, meadowfoam seed extracts help moisturize the middle, and finally sweet almond extracts wraps the surface with a moisturizing layer. Supposedly. My personal experience with this mask is an "Ok". Being a favorite of Leighton Meester's, I got it in my head that this mask would be the answer to my dry/damaged hair predicament. This mask did provide my hair with smoothness and untangeled it very well, however I expected MUCH more. I did not receieve any shine or vibrancy and definitely do not believe the load of crap about penetrating to all three layers of the hair shaft. The only thing I would believe that can penetrate deep into the cortex is coconut oil, recommend by the amazing bloggers at thebeautybrains.com. Would I buy this mask again? Probably not.. it will serve for the time being, however I much prefer the Clairol Conditioning Gloss, which in fact does contain coconut oil. Unfortunantly, this and the Pantene mask are "nos".

Clairol Nice'N Easy Color Seal Conditioning Gloss

Next up for review? The amazing Clairol Nice'N Easy Color Seal Conditioning Gloss. This stuff is simply amazing! Even better than the Panene I reviewed last week in my opinion. Packed with Safflower Seed Oil, Almond Protein and one of the few products proven to penetrate the hair shaft, Coconut Oil, the Conditioning Gloss has really proven itself. I bought this because I have horribly damaged long (to my boobs) blonde hair and it is supposed to repair hair that has been damaged with chemicals like hair dye so I thought this HAS to do something for my undyed hair. And it did! This stuff is amazing! I just take a small amount after shampooing with my Kerastase Bain Miroir and leave it in for about 5 minutes. Sometimes I even take a wide toothed comb and comb it through for even distribution. After that I rinse with cool water and my gosh my hair is sooo soft and tangle free. Once it dries it even looks shinier, something the Pantene failed to do. As of right now, this is my favorite hair treatment. It does come in a too small bottle however :(

Pantene Time Renewal Replenishing Mask

I'm actually reading for my first hair mask review. It's the Pantene Time Renewal Mask. I've been using this all week long and find it is alright. It's very fragranced and very thick which I love. I take a small golf ball size in my hand after shampooing and glide it down my hair. I usually shave my legs while I let it work its magic in my hair for the 5 minutes. Then I rinse with cool water and my hair is left feeling very silky smooth. With tangles at bay, my long straightener damaged hair is feeling quenched. It doesn't do much in the shine department, which is what I am really on the lookout for. I have long blonde hair and I always have trouble getting that enviable, gorgeous, gleaming shine that almost every brunette has :(. This definitely adds moisture and smooths the hair shaft, but does not deliver what I really want. I am however very interested in trying out Pantene's Ice Shine shampoo and conditioner. Just the name intrigues me.

So bottom line, try out Pantene's Time Renewal Replenishing Mask if you are looking for moisture and smoothness. If you have damaged hair from either blowdrying, straightening, or curling irons then give this a try as the slogan for the whole Time Renewal product line claims that it "repairs up to 2 years of damage" the specific claim for this mask? "Turn back the strands of time". This line is essentially aimed at replenishing hair that has been exposed to repeated damage over the years. Believe me when I say mine has, however I was expecting a little more from this mask especially because it has recieved awards from Allure and other magazines. Next!

The Battle of the Masks

So I have more than one too many hair masks lying around my bathroom and thought I'd compose a test to see which one(s) is clearly a winner. The Cover Girl one is pretty good so far but the colors are terrible on my skin for some reason. They are either too orange or too pink :(.

Speaking of dupes.. I spoke to little about the amazing quality of Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder. Paula Begoun had compared it to Mac MSF Natural and I immediately bought it, tried it like twice and set it aside. This time I tried it with a 187 brush and my gosh this stuff is amazing! It seriously is a dream, it makes my skin look flawless and goes over foundation so silkily :). My only gripe is the colors are very very light, I had to get the one that is L4-5, 3 shades darker than my normal L2. Try this stuff out, it's so cheap and great!

Does anyone have another recommendation for a dupe of my Mac Studio Fix powder plus foundation?

Recession Beauty

I was on a quest to find a cheaper alternative to my Mac Studio Fix powder foundation and came across the Cover Girl Simply Powder foundation. But I realized I haven't yet told you what I thought. After giving them a few days, here are my conclusions.
I'd pass on the Jergens Mousse Self Tanner, the mousse sure is fun but it's just that much more difficult to apply it than a lotion. When I do self tanner I want something easy and quick. The mousse is kind of hard to squirt out of the bottle, and more difficult than a lotion to rub on. I would not repurchase :(, it gives okay color, not TOO orangey.
Next we have Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder. I'm not really sure what to say. I really don't think this does anything :(. I put it on and it has no coverage at all and I really don't think it helps my makeup stay on. Would not repurchase this either.
The Maybelline Mineral Power foundation is a yay! The color is a bit pink for my liking but honestly if I were to wear bare minerals on one cheek and the maybelline minerals on the other NO ONE would know. Thumbs up!
Maybelline's Lash Stiletto is another thumbs up! I've been liking my Maybelline lately :) I also like the Dream Mousse foundation (although the color again is a bit too pink) and the dream mousse bronzer! I wish i had got the bronzer in Glistening sun as sun glow seems a bit dark and again, pink!! anhhh :()
Okayy already, another brand! The Neutrogena lip boost is a load of crap! It did NOTHING for my chapped lips. Another piece of rubbish? The Max Factor makeup brush, it was soooo stiff and bristley and hard! It hurt to rub powder on with it :(!
On the other hand, the EcoTools brushes are absolutely fabulous! Soo soft and nice. The Monistat is really good at making my skin soft and smooth, but I don't see how it makes my foundation last longer. I find I still have to reapply when I normally do.. I'm not sure if I'd repurchase unless I have some chaffing going on! The Wet N Wild tinted moisturizer seems nice but is wayy wayyy wayyy too dark for my skin :(. I'm definitely going to try out Aveeno's and Laura Mercier's. Finally, the Physician's Formula Baked Bronzer in Baked Tan is not as good as I expected :(. It looks gorgeous in the case, but when applied is quite shimmery and doesn't really sit well on my skin. All on all I'm more disappointed than impressed with my purchases :(. Just count up all the frownie faces!

Tinted Moisturizers

So recently I have been obsessed with tinted moisturizer. Ive got Cover Girl's Smoothers and Wet N Wild's which is regretably too dark for me in sunkissed :(. My recent lemmings have been narrowed down to Laura Mercier's and Aveeno's new Positively Radiant one. There is definitely a significant price difference, but Laura Mercier's seems like such a classic and after discovering that Audrina Patridge and the lovely ladies on Gossip Girl use this, I'm having a real hard time telling myself "no". Aveeno's also drew me in because I just love their products and find them brilliant, so it seems a no brainer to purchase, Do you have anything to say about these two? What are your favorite tinted moisturizers?

Temptation

I went out to just pick up some deodorant and here's what I came back with..

Tresemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse in L2-Classic Ivory

Andd Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer in 20-Sun Glow

Overall I am quite pleased with my purchases, the hairspray held my hair in place even through the rain and it didn't get the least bit frizzy and all flyaways were at bay. The foundation seems to be quite nice, I haven't tried it on my face yet just swatched on the back of my hand :). Finally the Dream Mousse Bronzer is amazing! What was I supposed to do? 50% OFF!! How about $12 dollars for all of these? And $2 dollars to spend on back-ups of your favorite two, and $.50 towards tax. For the price of one MAC Tendertone one can purchase ALL twelve Wet 'n' Wild Mega Mixers. I'm not saying they are as pigmented as the TenderTones are, but basically they are the same idea. I have my eye on the Strawberry Daiquiri, Mango Margarita and Electric Lemonade mmm. These make me think of summer :)

Drugstore Gem

This is perhaps the BEST foundation I've used to date. My old favorite was Max Factor's Colour Adapt which was unfortunately discontinued, and I am convinced these two are the same product. They ingredients are almost IDENTICAL and the two even smell exactly the same. I have also found my perfect shade, Classic Ivory. I am about an NC20 in mac and the color is a beyond excellent match. I can understand how this might not work with oily skin or acne prone skin, which probably accounts for the lower ratings given on makeupalley, as it is very thick and creamy and full coverage. But once applied, i just use my fingers and only a small amount is needed, my skin is literally glowing! The coverage covers up all redness in my skin and any imperfection at all. I am in love love love with this :) and I've tried 'em all. I've tried MAC, MUFE HD, Lancome Colour Ideal, Revlon Colorstay and the horrible Spa Foundation with the brush.. yuck!, Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid, which I really like and the Age Rewind one which is also good oh and the Dream Matte Mousse which I think Cover Girl's whipped one blows out of the water by a long shot, Bare Minerals foundation, Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation, the new Max Factor ColorGenius yuck.. as well as the super heavy Pan-Stik, and many more and I must say this one is hands down perfection! I strongly recommend giving this a try! I might actually like this better than the Cover Girl Advanced Radiance, but it's a close call ;)

Foundation that reduces the need for foundation?

Hello everyone,
I thought I would share with you a product that I have been pleasantly surprised with.
Now I have slight rosacea on my cheeks and have been known to put on a lot of foundation in an attempt to disguise such redness. No face product seemed to be working unless I applied two or even three layers of foundation. I got a sample of a new foundation and oh my sweet goodness! The color was way to dark (the sample was in Neutral which is like 7th shade) but my redness was completely gone! I have no idea how this stuff works, but one swipe of it and my face was flawless and redness was at bay.

With that I introduce you to the brand new Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15:
This product claims to be "makeup that virtually erases the need for makeup". Sounds a bit contradicting huh? But nevertheless I am so happy with this. I'm definitely going to purchase when my sample runs out. My shade is probably 5 or 6 shades lighter than the one provided, Alabaster or Creamwhip.

Earth-friendly Beauty!

I feel a trip to Walgreens in my very near future. Also some more addons to the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze line, including one that poses a threat to Lancome's Flash Bronzer Self Tanning Face gel
,
it's the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tanning Gelee:.

Now I'm no chemist, but the ingredients for the Lancome Gel are as follows:
AQUA, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, DIHYDROXYACETONE, ALCOHOL DENAT, SODIUM CHLORIDE, DIMETHICONE COPOYOL, CARAMEL, CI 16035, GLYCINE SOJA, POLYCAPROLACTONE, TOCOPHEROL, PARFUM

and the L'Oreal's Gelee you ask?
Water, Propylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dipropylene Glycol, Dihydroxy Acetone, Alcohol Denat, Sodium Chloride, Dimethicone Copolyol, Fragrance, C12-15 Alkyl Lactate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Tocopherol, Caramel, Red No. 40.

Basic chemistry tells us that the first line of ingredients are the most important, and most concentrated. These two products' first line and then some are IDENTICAL. Now I'm not saying that they will work exactly the same, as maybe the more expensive Lancome has a higher quality ingredients, but if you are looking for a much cheaper facial tanner, definitely give the L'Oreal a try! Hope you get your safe glow on this summer, I sure will!

Woe is me

So basically I have been home all day long with nothing to do (thanks to the rainy weather), in fact I'm home this entire week chanting spring break! spring break! spring break! So expect to see a plethora of posts. I was so excited to see that I got a magazine in the mail, unfortunately Miley Cyrus is on the cover. Why Glamour, why? I was however excited to see a Jergens ad advertising their new self tanner. I'm all for self tanners as I am a blonde with pale skin. My favorites so far have been Vaseline Healthy Body Glow and Victoria's Secret Bare Bronzer Facial Moisturizer.

Now I am craving something different. Feast your eyes on this:

http://15minbeauty.blogspot.com/2009/02/can-hair-dryer-give-you-instant-beachy.html

Is that not the most amazing thing you've ever seen?! I can guarantee that this will be sitting in my bathroom in a couple of weeks!

Also I would like to take this time to share with you a recent discovery I picked up at Walgreens and have absolutely been loving. It is... drum roll please...

Cover Girl's Advanced Radiance Age-Defying (yeah right) Foundation!!

It looks very different then any foundation I've seen before, but that's aside the fact that it has the most amazing drugstore-foundation coverage I've seen since something like Revlon's COlorstay. Seriously I am so impressed with this. The only drawback is Cover Girl's shades are quite pink, so I settled with Classic Ivory which is supposed to be more of a yellow tone. Buff Beige is also a nice one, I have that too for summer when I'm a bit tanner. My favorite foundation had been Max Factor's Colour Adapt, which grievously has been discontinued.

I read in Paula Begoun's book that Colour Adapt was the same thing as Cover Girl's Trublend:

Observe the IDENTICAL bottles (both companies are manufactured by P&G)
I was hopeful. However after the reformulation of Trublend,
I lost hope in ever finding Colour Adapt again. I've done some research and found a list of ingredients for the old, beloved Colour Adapt. Compared to all Cover Girl foundations, a very close match was... tada! Cover Girl Trublend Whipped foundation (has not yet been altered by the reformulation demons)

So what do you think? Will this be my new Colour Adapt? I do really like the Advanced Radiance one, should I continue with Cover Girl?

Current Favorites

Here are my current favorite products of the month, enjoy!

<img style="cursor:pointer; I must admit I find myself powerless to resist against such a wide display of ads. I really want to try this stuff out. I haven't had much luck with the True Match liquid, so maybe a powder foundation is more my forte? I've never tried one before and have also took an interest in Mac's Studio Fix, maybe I should give this a try instead?

First post!!

Hey everyone who's stumbled across my so-far blog! I'm so excited to start blogging! This is definitely going to be a leisurely enjoyment type of thing. I'm liking the sound of that :). Let's get one thing straight, I'm here to talk about fashion and most definitely makeup. Yup, I'm one of them. Makeup is a huge calling of mine and I've finally decided it's my time to create a blog just to express my love <3. I'm a senior in highschool and unfortunately won't post any pictures of myself, except my profile picture which is quite small, and a facebook "face-in-a-hole" of a victoria's secret model... so hopefully no one will recognize me from that, for privacy and embarrassment of being discovered's sake. I'm aware FOTDs are much more appreciated and accepted when shown with a face instead of just a picture of the products, so please bare with me on that. I can't wait to start blogging about all things makeup! See you guys real soon!!
