New Post, New Purchases

So here we have added to the collection..

Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer in 6 Ivory
http://www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P151107/P151107_hero.jpg
Which honestly is not much better than the much cheaper Physician's Formula Conceal Rx concealer(Shade is Fair Light for reference )
Both are full cover concealers yet the PF is around 22 bucks cheaper. I think with MUFE you are just paying for the brand while with the PF it is the quality that matters. I also have purchased Mac Studio Fix Powder and am absolutely loving it (shade C2 for me) Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation Followed with a dusting of Loreal True Match Powder in Cocoa C8 used as a bronzer http://img.walgreens.com/dbimagecache/07124903360_220x220_a.jpg
Ive also been using Victoria's Secret's Pro Fx concealer
in place of foundation (i use the medium one, 2nd from left) because of the full coverage it offers. I really like not wearing foundation, I feel like I am letting my skin breathe for once! I just slap on this concealer over my bad areas and then follow with Studio Fix powder and True Match bronzer. I do touch up throughout the day with my Cover Girl Aquasmooth Compact (famazing foundation that everyone should try!) but that's about it. I have also purchased a shampoo and conditioner set that I am so excited to try out tonight. I had been on makeupalley asking the boards and searching reviews for the "best" volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The consensus was... Giovanni Root 66 Max Volume Shampoo and Conditioner http://www.health-store.co.uk/acatalog/jason-route66-max-volume-shampoo.jpg Purchased at Walmart for about $7 each, these are completely sulfate free and supposedly provide for amazing volume! I will definitely keep you posted :). Hope everyone has a fantastic Holiday! Let me know your favorite products and new purchases.

Things Loved and Things Lusted (for)

Alright so once again I find myself slacking and neglecting to update. Sorry! I will get better at this eventually (I hope)! Anyhow I thought I would keep track of items I am loving right now/have been for a while. I have decided to do this because upon l0oking back at my old pictures on my camera I found a picture where I really liked what I did with my makeup I just canNOT remember what I had used. I detest trying to think back through the months helplessly trying to remember. So here is to my future self, in case I forget again, and also for anyone who is curious and like to see what others use (a feeling a I am stranger too) :).

For those of you who are more visually stimulated here are some pictures!

Whew! Sorry I go a little overboard with pictures.. Anyways I think I can confidently say that I will never try a new mascara again. I am COMPLETELY sold on Define-A-Lash, it is super cheap and lengthens like no other. Benefit BadGal is also a good one, I am usually not akin to a blue mascara but I got this one free at Ulta. I did hear that blue brightens the whites of the eye and I am actually liking the affect it gives. I put this on over the black Maybelline so it does not look like I am wearing blue and it does actually brighten my eyes. Then to really make them pop I line just the inner corners with a white eye pencil from Wet N Wild that I picked up for 99cents. I am really liking my eyes at the moment when I use these three products.

If you are looking for a very good coverage, heavy duty concealer Benefit Boi-ing is a godsend! A must have for girls like me with redness or under eye circles, this covers like a dream. I am already on my second tub (it is a quite small amount for the price unfortunately) my shade is 02. I have to admit something now, I have fallen in love with Studio Sculpt. Initially I really disliked if not, hated it. It was not at all what I had expected in the coverage department and the color I was given (NC25) was quite light on me. Now as fall is approaching it works better with my skin, is very moisturizing and I have began applying it with the Sonia Kashuk beauty blender knockoff. This works much better and I can actually get coverage from this foundation, and a really nice flawless finish when used with Boi-ing and topped with my next favorite, Bare Minerals original foundation. I am tempted to try the new Matte version, but for now I am sticking with the award-winning, #1 favored by Americans formulation. This I use as a powder and it leaves me with a nice glowing finish.

CoverGirl Aqua Smooth foundation seriously deserves its own post. I would not know what to do with myself without this foundation. My gosh I cannot believe how amazing this is. You HAVE got to try this. At the price of like $8 you will not be disappointed. This offers amazing coverage, I honestly will not go near MAC Studio Tech again. Some colors can be quite pink toned, so stick with those of Classic Ivory and Buff Beige if you do not want so much pink. I have three of these at the moment. I take one with me in my bag for touch ups throughout the day and it is the only face product I bring, and I feel completely confident with that. Please please please try this if you like the idea of a creamy foundation. I even use the sponge applicator, which I normally don't use with drugstore products but everything about this is perfect!

My two cannot life without body/face products are self tanner and serum. Olay Regenerist serum is my favorite at the moment. It goes on very smooth and just glides into the skin. It gives me a nice refreshed and glowing look. No word on its anti -aging properties however. My favorite self-tanners of all time, and being a pale girl you know I've tried them all, are Vaseline and L'Oreal. L'oreal's spray on sublime bronze is what I use to tan my face and it is the only thing that actually works without causing breakouts or fading away in a matter of hours. And Vaseline I have repurchased multiple times, I think I am on my sixth bottle to be exact. Not only is this very moisturizing but produces a beautiful, believable glow/ tan upon repeated use.

I'm also really loving the Garnier Triple Nutrition line. The products are really well formulated, the conditioner's third ingredient being palm oil, one of the few oils known to penetrate into the hair shaft (see this article if you are interested http://thebeautybrains.com/2006/05/24/is-ojon-restorative-treatment-any-good/)

As if this post wasn't long enough already I would like to include a second category.

A blog post.. really?!

Hey guys! Wow I have not posted in forever! I am so sorry for the absence :(. I just thought I would update you all on a few recent purchases and such. First off I am a HUGE fan of Revlon Colorstay Foundation (my shade is 250 Fresh Beige in the Oily/Combo skin formulation btw)
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/11ZDdpmVNuL._SL500_AA200_.jpg
But lately I have been venturing out for some thing new lately, not that Revlon didn't cut it of course. So here are the three new comers to my stash. We have
  • MAC Studio Sculpt in NC25 (a tad light on me but winter IS coming)
http://beautifulwithbrains.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/mac-well-defined-studio-sculpt-foundation.jpg
  • Nars Oil-free foundation in Barcelona
http://talkingmakeup.com/pics/news3/nars1.jpg
  • AND Maybelline Superstay 24HR in Classic Beige
Maybelline Superstay 24Hr - Makeup, Classic Beige - 1 fl oz

The Maybelline one is very similar to Colorstay in terms of coverage and even color, but for some reason at the end of the day I think I am going to stick with Colorstay.

MAC's Studio Sculpt foundation is a very interesting one. It's a gel as many of you know and is very viscous as opposed to any of the other three mentioned. It is too light for me at the moment and I do not like the way it looks, but perhaps come winter my opinion will change. It is pretty good coverage although I would say that that of Revlon or Maybelline is even better. Again, I'll stick with the Revlon.

Finally Nars Oil-free in Barcelona. I picked this up when I went to Sephora to return the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. That foundation was an epic fail for me :(. I do like NARS' foundation a lot better than the MUFE HD but still am proud to say that Colorstay far outweighs them all. The consistency of Oil-free begins watery and when applied dries very very quickly so a lot of quick application skills are required. It does provide nice coverage also but did not conceal my red spots as well as Revlon, which is my number one expectation for a foundation, must conceal redness!

The bottom line is that Revlon Colorstay is the most amazing foundation ever and is a superb alternative to any high end foundation that you are not looking to pay an arm and a leg for. Please try this stuff out, it is fantastic!

One more thing.. I tried out Lush BIG shampoo after learning that MakeupbyMel (from youtube) AND lollipop26 (also a youtuber I'm sure you know) have used this. Call me crazy but whenever I learn what a gorgeous girl with gorgeous hair uses, I'll have that product in a week tops.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41PP8967ZVL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

Anyways Lush BIG is definitely an experience. First off the smell is amazing, it's very sweet and delicious and lemon-lime margaritaish. It is composed of salt and feels like the consistency of a body scrub. It was very strange my first time using this and scooping out a handful of, essentially, salt to rub throughout my scalp. This stuff lathers incredibly! It is such a nice shampoo but a bit pricey at $21 a tub. To be honest I haven't noticed my "dull" hair transforming into shiny "traffic-stoppingly" silky hair with huge body, but regardless I do think this is a very nice shampoo and will probably repurchase. I love the idea of using natural products also. Well that's all for now, I hope to blog again soon!

Not a makeup related post

Long time no post. Sorry! My job has been overwhelming and I have been lazy. Nothing new there. Anyways after watching a rerun of Tyra Banks' talk show, appropriately named, The Tyra Show, I was inspired to try out a book mentioned on the show. This book is called Hungry Girl 200 Under 200.
Basically this book is for those of us who are trying to save a few calories here and there by eating meals under 200 calories. I have tried some of the recipes offered by this book and a few have been successful and others a big fat FAIL. But again what can you expect from something under 200 calories? One thing I did discover from this book and have fallen in love with for probably the rest of my life are VitaTops. http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/onlinevitalicious_2065_862595
Ohhh now I want one! I have about 4 boxes of these in my freezer currently and I am downright in love! These little babies are 100 calories per "top", essentially these are supposed to be just the top of a really tasty muffin because who really eats the bottom half of the muffin? The top is where it's at! Aside from only 100 calories, these treats offer only 1.5g fat, 6g fiber and 3g protein and 15 vitamins and minerals. AND THEY ARE DELICIOUS!! They can be eaten frozen or microwaved. Just a warning in advance, these taste like warm gooey brownies when microwaved for about 30 seconds and are irresistable. They also come in an assortment of flavors, but I have only been able to find the deep chocolate at my drugstore which I am just fine with.
I hope I have inspired some of you to check these out because I have never heard of them before and thought I should spread the word! Happy eating :) Here is a link to the VitaTop site, the brand name is Vitalicious. http://www.vitalicious.com/index.html

L'Oreal Everpure

Now I have never really been one to let myself be bothered by the use of sulfates in my shampoo. I've always stuck with the mentality of, "my hair is dead so what does it matter?" Now I also must admit that I do follow "teen queen" Miley Cyrus on twitter *hangs head in shame* AND after seeing her tweet about her loving L'Oreal Everpure's hair mask I, being the product junkie that I am, HAD to try it. Something about knowing that a celebrity uses it just makes me want a product that much more, especially if it is an inexpensive drugstore product. http://juvenescent.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/loreal-everpure.jpg
So off to walgreens I went, and into my cart went the moisture restorative masque. After trying this I had to tell you guys that sulfates are apparently my worst enemy because my hair has NEVER looked better nor felt softer. I plan on trying the shampoo and conditioner and expect ample results. One last thing, the leave-in conditioner from this line is absolute, utter crap! It smells great, as does the entire pepermint scented line, but it might as well be called glue. DO NOT waste your money on this! I wonder what went wrong? The rest of the line seems AMAZING!
